Douglas, GA — Two Drivers Injured in Late-Night Crash at Ward St and Gaskin Ave

Douglas, GA — Two Drivers Injured in Late-Night Crash at Ward St and Gaskin Ave

Douglas, GA (January 5, 2025) — On Friday, January 2, a night traffic collision occurred near downtown Douglas, sending two drivers to Coffee Regional Medical Center, according to the Douglas Police Department.

The crash occurred around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Ward Street and Gaskin Avenue, just blocks from downtown. Police say a Pontiac G6 traveling westbound on Ward Street collided with an older-model Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck that was heading north on Gaskin Avenue.

The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles. The Chevrolet S-10 was struck on the passenger side and knocked onto the sidewalk on the northwest corner of Gaskin Avenue, where it came to rest facing north. The Pontiac sustained major front-end damage and spun around in the intersection before stopping facing east.

Both drivers reported injuries at the scene and were transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.

We hope everyone involved in this incident makes a full and swift recovery.

Car Accidents and Injury Claims in Coffee County

Traffic crashes at intersections are a frequent cause of serious injuries in Coffee County, particularly during evening and nighttime hours when visibility is reduced. Additionally, congested roadways, distracted driving, and confusion over traffic signals can further increase the risk of collisions in these areas.

Accidents involving right-of-way disputes can be especially dangerous, often leading to side-impact collisions that provide limited protection for vehicle occupants and increase the risk of severe injuries. Victims in these crashes may suffer head and brain injuries, spinal trauma, broken bones, internal injuries, or soft tissue damage that requires extensive medical treatment.

In Georgia, injury-related car accidents are typically investigated to determine fault by reviewing vehicle damage, roadway evidence, traffic controls, and driver statements. High-impact crashes may also lead to injuries that worsen over time, making ongoing medical care and follow-up treatment necessary.

Moreover, Georgia law allows crash victims to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering when another driver’s negligence is involved. In some cases, compensation may also be available for future medical care, reduced earning capacity, and the long-term impact injuries have on daily life. Understanding these rights is a critical step in addressing not only immediate medical bills, but also the ongoing physical, emotional, and financial challenges that often follow a serious collision.

Because insurance claims and legal deadlines can be complex, getting legal help early can be key to protecting your rights and strengthening your claim. An experienced car accident attorney can handle communications with insurance companies, gather supporting evidence, and work to ensure any settlement reflects the full extent of your injuries and losses.
