What Is the Statute of Limitations for a Car Crash in Valdosta, GA?
In Georgia, the statute of limitations for most personal injury claims arising from a motor vehicle crash is generally two years from the date of the injury. This deadline typically applies to claims seeking compensation for injuries caused by another party's negligence. Exceptions may apply depending on the circumstances, so the specific filing deadline should be confirmed with a qualified attorney.
People injured in a vehicle crash may need to account for medical expenses, lost wages, rehabilitation costs, and other losses. Keeping medical records, bills, insurance correspondence, and other relevant documents can help support a potential claim. A personal injury claim may also involve questions about fault and the extent of the injuries.
Different deadlines may apply to property damage claims, claims involving government entities, or cases with other legally significant circumstances. Missing an applicable deadline can prevent a person from pursuing a claim in court.
